On December 16th, Russick Smith played cello on top of a 1919 Colorado & Southern Railway Caboose overlooking the 5,500 sq. ft. HO-scale layout at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum. The layout is a detailed and nuanced version of the Oregon, California and Eastern Railway leading to the title of the song "A View of Oregon from a Red Caboose."

Smith's hour-long solo performance was comprised of mostly improvised pieces and was recorded through a DPA 4099-c and a Lectrosonics SMQV transmitter. After the performance, Smith took back to his studio where he added the mandola and double bass parts, making the music in this video half-improvised and half-composed.
